Issuing an item to a WO refers to the idea of taking the unit out of the warehouse; ergo, a part unit must first enter Inventory, either through a PO or by manually signing in the part under Manage Inventory>> Warehouse.
You can check this out on the fly from the WO browser. Just open up the part details by clicking the down arrow preceding the WO number; the information you need to focus on should populate the Quantity and In Stock columns.
If the part has been purchased, ensure it is received through the PO and linked to the WO number from within the PO. Make sure you use the copy- from function.
Tip: Even if this is not mandatory, by doing so, the WO part status will automatically change to PURCHASED and then to RECEIVED, as the PO status goes from ENTERED to RECEIVED, respectively. Notice that only after the parts are issued to the WO will the PO number show on the Part issue report.
If the part is added to Inventory under Manage Inventory > Warehouse, ensure that the WO is referenced in the traceability section when creating the stock item for tracing purposes.
Next, you can issue the part from the WO browser or straight from Inventory >> Part issue.
Tip: Notice that "issued" is the only part status to be exclusively managed by the system; hence the part will be set to "issued" right after the procedure.
